Bagatelgrænsen for at slå mennesker ihjel.
Har du nogensinde tænkt over, hvor bagatelgrænsen bør være for, hvor mange mennesker, man må komme til at slå ihjel?
Det har de hos Anthropic – Claude AI Chatbot – og de har i det hele taget en lidt frisk tilgang til regulering af AI. De mener, at det er AI-branchen, der skal regulere, hvornår staten må gribe ind, ikke omvendt. Ret skal være ret, Trump har også lovet dem, at AI ikke må reguleres, i hvert fald i 10 år.
Og de er nået frem til, at bagatelgrænsen bør være 50. Kun hvis AI autonomt slår mere end 50 mennesker ihjel, bør staten kunne blokere videre arbejde med en given model.
Jeg ved ikke, hvorfor grænsen ikke blev sat til 14. Eller 62. Jeg ved ikke, hvordan man nåede frem til 50. Jeg ved heller ikke, hvordan det nærmere er defineret – er det et akkumuleret, endeligt tal, eller må AI f.eks. godt slå 48 ihjel det ene år, 36 det næste, osv.?
Der er noget helt galt med mennesker, der drøfter bagatelgrænse for menneskeliv.
Og der er noget helt galt med et samfund, hvor enkelte mennesker kan træffe beslutninger med så omfattende påvirkning af hele menneskeheden og kloden.
Historisk set holder oligarkier ikke, og de ender som regel voldsomt. Men oligarker kan nå at gøre enorm skade. Den største forskel historisk er nok de enorme skader, vores tids oligarker har midler til at påføre mennesker og kloden.

The “de minimis” threshold for killing people.
Have you ever considered, which number of people should be considered trivial when it comes to killing?
The people at Anthropic – Claude AI chatbot – have, in a rather smug approach to AI regulation. They want to regulate the government, not the other way around. To be fair, their deal with Trump was that AI will remain unregulated—at least for the next 10 years.
And now they have concluded that should AI kill people, then the number must exceed 50 before the government has a right to intervene.
I don’t know why the limit wasn’t set at 14. Or 62. I don’t know how they landed on 50. Also, I don’t know how it is defined – is it a cumulative, absolute total? Or, for instance, would an AI be permitted to kill 48 people one year, 36 the next, and so on?
There is something really, really wrong with people who discuss which number of people killed is trivial.
And there is something fundamentally wrong with a society in which a handful of individuals can make decisions that have such profound consequences for all of humanity and the planet.
Historically, oligarchies do not last. And they usually end violently. Yet, historically, oligarchs manage to inflict immense damage.
Perhaps the most significant historical difference is the chilling magnitude of the harm that today’s oligarchs have the means to inflict upon humanity and the planet.
